APA Community Celebrates Heritage Month

Happy APA Heritage Month (APAHM) 2022! In case we haven’t met, we’re @uru.chan, @instantmiso, @quimchee and Kris Nguyen (@hukaka) of Webtoon—here to celebrate APAHM. For the last few months, we’ve been working behind the scenes with McDonald’s to bring the Drawing on Heritage Series to life. We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate family bonds, coming of age, and what it means to grow up Asian American. Check out our bios below and read the full series, only on WEBTOON.

Helloooo, I’m Chelsey Han, but you probably know me as Uru-chan (the creator of “unORDINARY”). I moved to the U.S. at a young age and, like so many others, had to navigate growing up between cultures. If you can relate, you may enjoy my episode.

Hey, I’m Kaitlyn Narvaza AKA “instantmiso,” and I’ve always loved comics. So much so, I started creating my own at age 4, but I didn’t publish anything until 21. I also love food, as you may have guessed from my “Eaternal Nocturnal” series. My love of food started with my grandma, and to honor my heritage is to honor her. That’s why my APA Heritage Month story is hers as much as my own.

Kris Nguyen here! I just launched my new series “Fictional Skin” on May 1st. Growing up Asian American for me was really just growing up American. You know? I loved tabletop games with friends and wanted to bring that love to life in an episode featuring some characters you may recognize. (cough) Finn (cough) Vivi (cough). I hope you enjoy!

Hi, I’m quimchee, best known for my “I Love Yoo” Webtoon series and love for cheese. But what you might not know is that I moved around a lot growing up.  My parents were always looking for better opportunities to help out our family in the Philippines. We can all relate to that right? Maybe not the moving often part, but the part where our parents want what's best for us! This is the story I want to tell for APA Heritage Month and I hope you guys enjoy it!
